The LG KC910 has a moniker that sends out a bold and clear statement about talent. Packing a whopping 8 megapixel camera and top-of-the-line video recording, the LG KC910 Renoir is all about capturing the moment, leaving an impression. While this alone should be enough to assert an identity, the Renoir just won't stop there. With the full touch user interface and the portly 3" display, everything is a mere touch away. Wi-Fi, HSDPA and GPS are all aboard to add the last bits of oomph to the feature-loaded LG Renoir.

The exciting facts and figures from the Renoir specs sheet however won't really give away its real-life performance and this is where we step in. We already had the camera performance of the LG Renoir to bits in our 8 megapixel cameraphone shootout but it's time to move up and look at the bigger picture.

It certainly took us quite some time to bring this review forward. Perhaps we even pushed it over the peak of your anticipation, but we didn't mean to get you starved so you like the meal better.

Our better-late-than-never department - duly sent to the corner, by the way - has finally prepared a full-featured, action-packed and hopefully eye-opening review of one of the best imaging mobile phones this year - the LG KC910 Renoir.

We have some good news for the future owners of the LG KM900 Arena. According to the company web site, the newly announced full touchscreen handset will support multi-touch input and will come with a dedicated graphics chip. Both features should have a very positive impact on the user experience the LG KM900 Arena provides.

In essence the multi-touch input means more user-friendly UI due to the easier input – you can have additional commands available on each screen. Have in mind though that the multi-touch will only be available for web browsing and picture viewing.

The dedicated graphics chip should provide faster and more responsive UI. With a demanding WVGA resolution screen on board it’s hardly a surprise that such a useful piece of hardware is present on the LG KM900 Arena.

The other LG KM900 Arena specs revealed today are its massive 8GB internal memory and the presence of a card slot on the device.

LG also revealed another interesting detail about the KM900 Arena - the process of developing the phone took the company no less than 100 man years! The number certainly sounds impressive, but will the final result be able to justify them?

In an increasingly competitive touchscreen market the S class UI (where S should stand for Superior) of the LG KM900 Arena will need something more than multi-touch to become a success. Who knows - it might actually have that extra bit in it. As usually the verdict will be passed once we acquire a unit for an in-depth review.

In case you have by any chance missed it or you need a quick memory refresh here are the rest of the LG KM900 Arena noteworthy features. Those include a 5-megapixel, capable of doing high-res video, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as a built-in GPS receiver. The handset will aslo offer the Dolby Mobile feature which promises "outstanding surround sound stereo".

LG KM900 Arena is expected to start its European expansion in March 2009 but the price tag is still unknown.

LG KS20 review

LG KS20 review

GSMArena has published a review of the LG KS20.Here’s the link.

bolt webbrowser, Applications SE, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, samsung, BlackBerry, LG

BOLT is a free downloadable browser that offers an uncompromised browsing experience on even lower-end mobile phones. Rather than offering a simplified, mini version of the Internet, BOLT provides users with a fast, efficient, feature-rich way to enjoy full PC-style web pages and rich media applications on all levels of mobile devices. Built on Bitstream’s ThunderHawk browsing technology, BOLT is the result of 5+ years experience developing mobile browsers that optimize usability, speed and performance on resource-constrained systems with limited memory, processing power and screen space.

The Features:
It’s Java ME (J2ME), so it should work on most featurephones. Don’t expect it to work on your iPhone, though.
WebKit based rendering engine

  • Relatively lightweight - 150kb storage, 500kb of RAM required
  • Fast! In BOLT’s words: “Bitstream measured download speeds of 13 popular websites including Amazon.com, CNN.com, ESPN.com and nytimes.com. The second fastest browser averaged download speeds in excess of 18 seconds across all pages. On the same phones, using the same networks, BOLT’s average download speed was under 13 seconds, a full 5.5 seconds faster. “
  • Like Opera Mini (the main J2ME competition), data is passed through a proxy for rendering and compression before being passed to the handset, speeding things up and saving battery life. It’s generally a good thing, though such practices tend to spook most security-minded folk. Pages are compressed at a rate of 23:1.
  • RSS reader built in, with automatic feed detection
  • “Split screen browsing” - 2/3 of the screen shows the full page, serving as a mini-map with a highlighting box, while the other 1/3 shows the magnified area.
  • URL auto completion
  • Phone numbers automatically parsed for Click-to-call
  • User interface is currently English only, but the browser can render pages written in any Western-European language.
  • AJAX support, and Flash video support (Sort of - it’ll take FLV files and convert them to the more mobile-friendly 3GP format, streaming that to you.) Note that that’s Flash video, not Flash in its entirety.

LG KC550

Posted by Admin | 4:13 PM | | 0 comments »

LG KC550, the latest 5 Megapixel handset unveiled by the South Korean manufacturer, was released today in Romania. The new KC550 is a slider that targets users in need of a mobile phone that can also act as a professional photo camera. Of course, the handset won't actually allow you to take photos at a quality that can beat the one real cameras can offer, but it's still a good "photo tool". The 5 Megapixel camera packed by LG in the KC550 features Schneider-Kreuznach lens, flash, image stabilizer, ISO 800 and video recording (30fps at a 720 x 480 maximum resolution). This camera is quite similar to the one of LG Viewty, a handset well-known for its photographic capabilities.

The rest of the specs the new LG comes with include: a 2.4 inch TFT display with 256K colors, tri-band GSM connectivity, accelerometer and motion sensor (M-toy), Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music and Video players, FM radio, TV out, email and Web capabilities, 6 pre-installed games and USB. LG KC550 weighs a bit over 100 grams and, when not slid, it measures 96 x 51.4 x 14.3 millimeters. Its battery should be able to keep it going for up to 6 hours in talk-time mode and up to 450 hours in stand-by mode.

With the KC550, LG has equaled Sonny Ericsson when it comes to the number of 5 (or more) Megapixel handsets. The new slider is the fourth LG to have such a camera, after the KG920 (released back in 2006), the Viewty (released in 2007) and the more recent Secret. Coming as one of the lowest-priced 5 Megapixel mobile phones, the new LG KC550 is available as of now in lots of retail stores across Romania. The slider can be bought for prices starting at 850 RON (the equivalent of about $370 or 235 Euros).
