Average customer review:

However, if you have an Apple store handy, I recommend you buy there instead. From the first time I turned on the laptop, the dvd drive made a loud noise every time I turned it on or woke it up from sleep. I took it to the nearest Apple Genius bar and they agreed it was wrong, and offered to trade in for a brand new one. Then they found out I bought from Amazon, so they couldn't do that. Instead I had to mail my laptop to AppleCare and wait for them to say there was nothing wrong, and then send it back fixed(!). Weirdness of AppleCare aside, I could have started using my laptop a week earlier if I'd bought it from Apple.

Excellent hardware, but sharp corners!
I bought one of these the day they were released. However, every time I would get up from using my laptop for a drink or potty break, my wife would steal it! She was hooked. I told her that we had to get a laptop for her so that I could use mine. We went to Best Buy and test-drove a few cheaper PC/Vista laptops. None of them even remotely stacked up to the quality of the aluminum unibody MacBook Pro. She -had- to have a 15.4" widescreen LCD that could be viewed from sharper angles than sitting directly in front of the screen. She -had- to have a backlit keyboard. She -had- to have a glass, button-less touchpad. That narrowed it down. She -had- to have a 15" unibody MacBook Pro.

All-in-all, we love just about everything about our laptops. My only complaint is the sharp edges. The 90-degree edge where your wrists wrest is uncomfortable for any lengthy coding or writing sessions. And the notch cut out in the middle below the touchpad has VERY sharp corners. I have actually nicked myself a couple of times on it.

I would actually give this laptop a 4.5 out of 5 because of the edges. However, Amazon doesn't support half-stars, so I rounded up.

Oh, and this laptop made me a "switcher". I bought a Mac Mini as an HTPC a few years ago, but never used it much. Now, with this laptop, I never touch either of my high-powered Vista gaming rigs. Sure, gaming on a Mac leaves a lot to be desired, and I haven't had any luck with the virtualization software for gaming (VMware, Parallels), but that's not my primary usage. I'm a web developer and use an array of applications. If you're a hardcore PC person, give a Mac a spin. You'll find you can do anything on a Mac that you can do on PC. It's a little unfamiliar at first, but it is just so much easier and cleaner-feeling and nearly hassle-free.

Piece of Art - Carved to Perfection - Incredible Laptop
I have owned many different computers over the years (mostly Macs with a Mac clone somewhere in there). This is, hands down, the best computer I have ever owned. It is a solid body unit, with a gorgeous screen, backlit keyboard, and everything you could want in a laptop. The new multitouch trackpad just finishes this off as a must buy.

If you are on the fence about getting a new laptop (to run the MacOS or Windows) - this IS the laptop you have always wanted.

PROS
Great Screen (some don't like the gloss, but I think it's bright enough to not matter)
Backlit Keyboard (great when in a dark room)
Solid, Unibody Construction (light but solid)
Good Speakers
Very unique multi-touch trackpad that adds a lot to the laptop
Very powerful and feature loaded

CONS
It's not cheap - but you get what you pay for.

ASUS M70ASUS launched a monster called stiffly M70. ASUS M70 was born for fulfilling the dreams of those who want a very powerfull notebook.

The only negative part is its weight of 3,78Kg but if we take in account its dimensions (41×29.8×3.84 - 3.94 cm) we can say that it is normal.

Lets start with the endowments. For example the model called Asus M70SA-7U032G has an Intel Core2 Duo T9300 (2500MHz with FSB 800MHz and cache L2 de 6144kb) processor. 4 GB of RAM memory are sufficient to run Vista without problems. And if we started to talk about Vista, we need to mention that the video plaque is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 with 1 GB memory.

The 17 inch screen has a Full HD resolution i.e. 1920 x 1200.

Asus M70SA-7U032G has 1 hard disk of 500 GB but exists a model in M70 series with 2 hard disks of 500 GB each. These are installed in RAID 0 for offering 1 TB of space for stocking. Just try to count yourself what you can place on 1 TB.

And for such space on a hard disk Blu-ray optic unit is the thing you need. Because of the high cost of Blu-ray units this endowment is optional. A standard variant includes a DVD Writer Super Multi.

M70SA, being a multimedia system, respects this high standard and has a sound plaque with a support for Dolby Home Theater. Its 4 speakers and a subwoofer are made by Altec Lansing and are not noname as usually notebooks have.

All high-end class ASUS notebooks have a web cam so M70SA is not the exception to the rule with its 1,3 mega pixels.

With the autonomy of the monster is dealing a battery of 8 cells on 5200 mAh.

Conclusions:
If you want an extremally performant multimedia notebook, M70 is one of the best options on the market. The prize is OK for its super endowments.

But because of its heavy weight we can not recommend it for those who need high mobility.
